Medagrith

Medagriths are a tall, brawny species that grow fur on their bodies and horns on their heads, resembling fauns. The distinction between males and females is evident in their appearance. Males sport thick, curled horns, and hands covered in fur except for their palms. On the other hand, females possess short, straight horns, and hands with minimal to no fur. Standing at a towering height of around 2.5 meters, males overshadow females who typically do not exceed 2 meters in height. Both genders exhibit a sturdy musculature that highlights their formidable strength. A healthy Medagrith typically has a lifespan of approximately 600 years due to their robust nature. Their dense fur provides them with better insulation in colder environments compared to other Races. When it comes to raising their young, Medagriths hold a straightforward expectation: "don't be useless." Interestingly, Medagriths are often thought of as the polar opposite of Aviatrines. Known for their intense protectiveness, Medagriths are inclined to put themselves at risk to ensure the safety of their loved ones, a behavior deeply ingrained in many cultures.

  • Due to their size, Medagriths are considered as large entities, that have a +4 bonus to their starting Movement Stat.

  • This is a species with high respect for Nature, many worshipping Maskenai, the God of Nature and Creation. This affinity reflects itself as a +4 modifier to their Wilderness skill.

  • Having big burly hands makes it easier to wield larger weapons. For this reason, Megagriths are efficient with large two-handed weapons.

  • Their inclination to put themselves in front of a threat to those they care for give them a +3 modifier to their Roll to Hit, and a +2 modifier to their critical range for the first attack they make during the first round of each combat.

  • Their horns allow them to use their Unarmed Fighting skill whenever they use the Tackle Combat Action.

  • Being a naturally strong species, Medagriths will get to increase their starting base Athleticism Feature by 2 upon character creation.

  • Nadrish is the common language amongst Medagriths. You may choose up to 3 additional langauges for your Medagrith character to know before setting off on their Adventure.

  • You gain a lot of perks from your Race, but to equal this out, Medagriths level slower than almost every other Race. If you want to level quickly, this is not the Race for you. Medagriths synergize best with the Brawler and the Trantelor Adventurer Classes.

Brawlers focus on Melee attack, and enjoy being in the thick of combat. Having a +2 bonus to your base Athleticism Feature will help your melee weapons and Unarmed Attacks deal more damage. Those modifiers to your Roll to Hit and Critical range on the first attack of each combat will be easier to exploit since you would rather be in the enemies face, anyways.
Trantelors gain 5 bonus skill points in their Wilderness and Investigation skills. Combining that with a Medagriths +4 modifier to the Wilderness skill will give you a +9 bonus to any Wilderness skill check you make at level 1, which is crazy! Many of the other things that come with being a Trantelor simply fit for a Medagriths life style, such as having a high Freeze Natural Resistance and being one with Nature.

World Knowledge

Though Medagriths exist all over Northern and Eastern Sarkenza, the majority of them live in the SnowRest, which is a cold, snow-covered region North of the Hinterstead. Their thick fur makes the climate here much more comfortable than anywhere else on the continent. As we travel into the SnowRest, the first spectacle we can find is a large island in the middle of a massive cove. The city of Evergleam can be found on this island, as well as the home of Atrydos Skyridge; the Medagrith that owns 51% of the Sky Ship enterprise. Evergleam is known for having the largest Sky Ship harbor in all of Turriel, taking up about 60% of the entire city. It is also the primary station where transcontinental flights depart and arrive. What Evergleam is most famous for, however; is the aurora borealis that is ever-visible, painting the snow-covered landscape with mesmerizing hues of vibrant colors dancing across the sky. This island is the only place in Sarkenza where this spectacle can be seen year-round. Leaving Evergleam and heading all the way North will take us to the Medagrith Kingdom of Cowaliss, a massive great city situated as far North as you can get without leaving Sarkenza. Cowaliss is renowned for being the home of the largest Ever Cinder Tree in the world, towering at about 50 meters tall with branches extending approximately 30 to 40 meters in every direction. These mysterious trees, exclusive to the SnowRest, are immune to fire and boast canopies filled with peculiar black leaves that display an ever-shifting gradiation of color, transitioning from black to bright orange. Emitting heat like a furnace, the tree's trunk and branches play a crucial role in warming most of the city, preventing fresh water from freezing and safeguarding livestock from perishing. The ruler of this prosperous Kingdom is a Medagrith Trantelor named Aldyseus Silverfall, who has effectively governed Cowaliss since the closure of the Empyrean War, ensuring the thriving prosperity of the SnowRest under his reign.

It is customary in Medagrith society for Nobles and Royalty to each have 1 or more devoted Keflers. A Kefler, a young adult female Medagrith, dedicates herself to serving her owner akin to a faithful companion. Their primary duty involves ensuring their masters' utmost comfort, while receiving essential care in return—ranging from nourishment to shelter. Notably, in Cowaliss, mistreating one's Kefler is strictly prohibited by law to uphold their well-being and dignity.
