Fuvvekian

The Fuvvekian race is widely recognized for its remarkable agility and lightning-fast reflexes. One of their most peculiar traits is the ability to transform into a slimy puddle known as "ook." However, this unique skill comes at a cost as it renders them highly susceptible to frigid temperatures, prompting them to avoid snowy areas whenever possible. When faced with snowy terrain, a sensible Fuvvek will only traverse it while bundled up in numerous layers of clothing to mitigate the cold's effects on their sensitive constitution. Their pliable skin provides a natural defense against cuts and abrasions, setting them apart from other species. Typically, a healthy Fuvvek can expect to live around 100 years and weigh between 50 to 80 kilograms, embodying a blend of resilience, speed, and novelty.

  • A Fuvvek is considered as a Medium sized entity, with a +2 bonus to their starting Movement stat, thanks to their natural speed and agility.

  • Fuvvekians are an inquisitive and dextrous species, giving them a +2 modifier their Investigation and Sleight of Hand skills.

  • In reference to their maliable physique, a Fuvvek has a +4 modifier to their Bleed Natural Resistance, but a -4 modifier to their Freeze Natural Resistance.

  • Their hightened reflexes allow them to re-roll a single Evasion Feature check, once per full rest.

  • Their ability to turn into ook is far and away their strangest and most interesting attribute. This process happens instantly. While in this form, all you can do is move. Your inventory and equipment is absorbed into you, and you will have a -10 modifier to your Freeze Natural Resistance. Failing a Freeze Resistance check while in this form will make your unconscious. You are immune to physical damage. Reforming will take 1 full minute.

The Trantelor Advanturer Class gets bonus skill points in Investigation and Wilderness. This will provide you with a +7 to your Investigation skill, which at level 1 is really good. They also get an animal companion that can go and do things for you, while you remain hidden as ook. On top of all of this, a Trantelors starting Freeze Natural Resistance is a 10, which significantly mitigates the -4 you get from being a Fuvvek.
The Priest Adventurer Class has a starting Bleed Natural Resistance of 10, and a Freeze Natural Resistance of 3. Choosing this class will give you a starting Bleed Resistance of +14! That is huge! Your Freeze Resistance will be a -1, but at this point, just avoid the cold, and you have nothing to worry about.

The Meta Game

Fuvvekians used to have their own territory in the Desert North of what is now Dravandalay. Prior to the Empyrean War, Dravandalay controlled this territory as well; Fuvvek and Draemon-kind lived together peacefully. The small village now known as Crale used to be a thriving Fuvvekian city called Kaylevire. This was a prime location, right next to a cove perfect for building a harbor for trade across the Drahilian Sea. When the Aviatrines came to absorb Dravandalay into their Ludrake Empire, the Fuvvekians and the Draemons were the first and only to resist, which is what started the Empyrean War. Kaylevire was close to the frontlines, and thus was a much sought after target for its strategic position. Many battles were fought here for control, which left the city in complete ruin. In the end, the Ludrake Empire claimed what was left of this city. Over time, the sands reclaimed the ruins, and a small village took its place. Many undead now haunt this desert, naming it the Voiceless Abyss. Those who remain are in poverty, not making nearly enough coin to retreat Northward across the Barren Alps. Some have tried venturing Southward in an attempt to reach Dravandalay, but were claimed by the Undead, or never heard from again. Many Fuvvekian families took advantage of the chaos of the war, and either fled into the Hinterstead, or retreated back South into the mountains; abandoning their broken home.

In present day, this species has no real place to call theirs. They instead integrate themselves into other societies, most often amongst Humans, with whom they share the most commonalities… and who live far away from the snow. Unlike Minilarks, Fuvvekians are not viewed as a minority by most other species. There are instead many who sympathize for their loss, and do what they can to accommodate them. Families who retreated to Dravandalay's capital city of Nephrym continue to live there amongst the Draemons, their centuries-old peace yet to be broken.
