Ice Elemental Arts

The Element of Ice uses your Constitution to maintain concentration in the cold.

This is the most basic form of Ice manipulation, requiring no resources to use.

  • Attack Form: Choose any basic, small, light weapon. Coalesce your ice into the chosen weapon. The durabilty of this weapon will be 1/2 of what it would normally be, and it will destroy itself after 1 hour of time has passed. You can spend Focus Points to imbue this weapon with immense cold and increase its damage. For each Focus Point spent, add 1d6 critical ice damage to what this weapon deals, as if it was enchanted with Ice.

  • Defense Form: Your Ice takes the form of a buckler affixed to your wrist that you may then use as if it were a normal buckler. The durability of this shield will be 1/2 of what it would normally be, and will destroy itself after 1 hour of time has passed. You may spend Focus Point to increase how effective this shield is at blocking incoming attacks. For each Focus Point spent, increase the Defense bonus of this shield by 3.

  • Utility Form: Transform your ice into a copy of something you are holding that is considered as “small”. The copy will be created in an unoccupied location of your choosing within 2 meters of you, and will have no magical properties. This can only be used to make a copy of something that is mostly solid. The durability of the copy will be 1/2 of what it would normally be, and it will destroy itself after 1 hour of time has passed.

Level One

Now that you have gotten the basics down, its time to move on to the more interesting things.

  • Attack Form: Create a large spear of ice to throw at your enemies. The range of this attack is equal to your Athleticism Feature x2. If hit, the target will take 1d6 points of ice damage per 50 points you have in your Magic stat, up to 10d6, and they will have a -2 modifier to their Movement stat for the next 1 minute. If a target hit by this Elemental Art is already suffering from a hindrance to their Movement stat from this form, the duration will be reset instead of applying an additional hindrance.

  • Defense Form: Layer yourself with a coat of armor made of ice that will damage those who hurt you. The next 3 times you are hit with a melee attack, the ice or this armor will retaliate against your attacker. When you are hit with a melee attack, you will roll 2d10. Choose 1 of these d10 results to add to your Defense against this attack. The other d10 will be critical ice damage dealt to your attacker.

  • Utility Form: Transform your ice into a copy of something you are holding that is weighs no more than 10kg. You may spend additional Focus Points to increase the potential weight of the target by 5kg per Focus Point spent.

Level Two

You have finally gained some form of control over this Elemental Art. That’s great! Now lets work on respect and understanding.

  • Attack Form: Surround an entity you can see within 10 meters in a shivering cold blanket, inflicting them with the “frostbitten” status effect. If the target is not currently frostbitten, then they will automatically fail their Freeze Resistance check.

  • Defense Form: Coat your skin with a thick and protective layer of ice. For the next 10 minutes, your Poison, Bleed, Infection and Freeze Natural Resistance are considered as N/A.

  • Utility Form: Pull the heat out of the area around you, decreasing the ambient temperature within 10 meters of you by 15˚ Celsius for as long as you maintain Concentration. Entities within this AoE are resistant to Wind damage.

Level Three

Your control and understand are starting to mold this Art to your will. Remember that your Element is an extension of yourself.

  • Attack Form: You send a flurry of sleet in a direction of your choosing, harming everything in its path. Choose 20 meter line originating from you. Everything within that line is struck by this attack, and will suffer 1d10 ice damage per 50 points you have in your Magic stat, up to 10d10. Structures and exposed equipment will lose 2 durability per damage die rolled. The range of this attack will end if it is met with a solid surface. Entities within this AoE may attempt an Evasion Feature check to reduce the damage them and their equipment take by 1/2. Entities who take daamge from this attack must also make a successful Freeze Resistance check or become frostbitten.

  • Defense Form: Create several illusions of yourself within 4 meters of you. These illusions will mirror your every move perfectly, making it difficult for attackers to identify which one is real. For the next 1 minute, any time you are hit by a targeted attack, roll percent. If the result is 40 or less, the attack misses you anyways.

  • Utility Form: Create an illusory copy of yourself next to you. This copy will look and sound like you, but cannot touch or be touched by anything. It can pass through non-magical barriers at will. It will behave like you, but will obey an command you give it. This copy is of its own mind until is dissapears. When it dissapears, all of its new memories will be made known to you. This copy will exist for up to 1 hour, and is immune to elemental and spell effects that are not dispelling magic. This copy may travel as far away from you as it desires.

Level Four

You now comprehend the potential of ice and are familiar with what it is capable of. Now, go and show the world this element scarcely has limits.

  • Attack Form: Surround an entity you can see within 20 meters, with a vortex of ice shards. For the next 1 minute, whenever that entity moves any distance, they will suffer 1d6 critical ice damage for every 2 meters that they travel. Any entity that begins their turn adjacent to the target, or moves into a space within 2 meters of the target for the first time each round will also suffer 1d6 critical ice damage.

  • Defense Form: Surround yourself with a powerful vortex of ice and sleet. For the next 1 minute, any entity that is hostile towards you, and begins their turn within 8 meters of you, or moves into a space that is within 8 meters of you for the first time each round, they will suffer 1d6 ice damage per 50 points you have in your Magic stat, up to 10d6. They must then make a successful Freeze Resistance check or become Frostbitten.

  • Utility Form: Transform your ice into any item you can think of that weighs no more than 20kg. The created item will appear in any chosen, unoccupied space you can see within 10 meters. The durability of this item will be 1/2 of what it would normally be. You may spend additional Focus Points when using this Elemental Art to repeat its effects simultaneously, making multiple items at the same time following the same parameters listed above. Items created this way will destroy themselves after 5 hours of time has past.

Level Five

You are truly one with your element. Can you feel it moving through and around you? You are now able to evoke this power, and become Ice incarnate!

  • Pure Ice: Your Ice covers you, and cold coarses through you, transforming your body into an Ice elemental. Such power can only be maintained for 1 minute. During this time, the following applies;

    • You are immune to non-magical damage

    • Choose any 1 “Attack Form” from a previous level as your basic attack. The chosen Attack Form will consume 1 less Focus Point to use.

    • Choose an 1 “Defense Form” from a previous level to be active on you for this duration. Concentration is not required to maintain the chosen Defense Form.

    • During your Perform Phase, you are able to use other Ice Arts without losing this form.

    • You take 3x Fire damage.

    • You are immune to Ice damage, and cannot be frozen or frostbitten.

    • You have a levitation Movement of 12 meters. An entity within 2 meters of you at the start of their turn must a Freeze Resistance check or become Frostbitten and gain a -2 modifier to their Movement stat for 1 minute. This cannot reduce an entities Movement to a value that is less than 4.
