Fire Elemental Arts
The Element of Fire uses your Athleticism to dominate its destructive force.
This is the most basic fire manipulation, requiring no resources to use.
Attack Form: Your hands and feet is coated in flames for a short time. Until the start of your next turn, any time you deal damage using the Unarmed Fighting skill, you will deal an additional 1d6 critical fire damage. You can spend Focus Points when using this Art Form, increasing this damage by 1d6 per Focus Point spent.
Defense Form: Flames temper your body, making you resistant to fire. Whenever you take fire damage, reduce that damage by 1d6. You can spend Focus Point when using this Art Form, increasing this damage reduction by 1d6 per Focus Point spent. This effect will last for as long as you maintain concentration.
Utility Form: A small harmless flame rests in the palm of your hand, acting like a torch until you decide for it to leave you.
Level One
Now that you have gotten the basics down, its time to move on to the more interesting things.
Attack Form: Create a fire ball in your hand that you can then throw at a target as a ranged attack. The range of this attack will be equal to 2x your Athleticism Feature. An entity hit by this attack will suffer 1d6 fire damage per 50 points you have in your Magic stat, up to 10d6. A structure or flammable item will instead lose 2 durability per damage die rolled.
Defense Form: Fire swirls around you, harming those who attack you. For the next 1 minute, any time you are hit with a melee attack, your attack will suffer 1d6 critical fire damage. This increases to 1d10 damage when unlocking level four, and 1d20 when unlocking level six.
Utility Form: Concentrate on the fire around you, keeping it away from you. As long as you maintain Concentration, you are immune to effects and damage from Level 1 Fire. If you would share a space with natural flames, the flames will instead move around you; returning to their space only after you no longer occupy that space.
Level Two
You have finally gained some form of control over this Elemental Art. That’s great! Now lets work on respect and understanding.
Attack Form: Choose a flammable target you can see within 10 meters, and cause them to spontaneously combust. The target becomes “on fire”.
Defense Form: You are surrounded by aggressive flames, that will lash out whenever you are injured. For the next 1 minute, any time you are hit with a targeted attack, you may choose any number of targets within 2 meters of you. These targets suffer 2d8 critical fire damage. Structures and items instead lose 1/2 as much durability.
Utility Form: Immense heat radiates from your body for as long as you maintain Concentration. While active, entities within 8 meters of you cannot become Frozen or Frostbitten. An already frozen entity that exists within this AoE for a total of 1 minute will thaw.
Level Three
Your control and understand are starting to mold this Art to your will. Remember that your Element is an extension of yourself.
Attack Form: Release a torrent of fire out in front of you, burning everything in its path. All potential targets within the AoE will suffer 1d10 fire per 50 points you have in your Magic stat; up to 10d10. Entities who succeed an Evasion Feature check will take 1/2 damage. Flammable items and structures within this AoE will become “on fire”: Blast (2) = 10 meters
Defense Form: Use this Art Form as a Reaction in response to taking fire damage. You instead take no damage, as you capture the flames, pull them away from you, and redirect them. You may choose a target you can see within 10 meters. That target must make a successful Evasion Feature check or take all damage you would have otherwise taken, as critical fire damage. Entities avoid this completely on a success. It the target was a flammable item or structure, it instead loses durability equal to 1/2 the damage. If you do not choose a new direction for the flames to go, you will instead absorb that fire into yourself, recovering 1 Focus Point.
Utility Form: You are able to move fire, even if you did not create it. For the next 1 hour, you may use your Action Phase to choose one space within 20 meters, that you can see clearly, and do any one of the following.
1. Move it a distance of up to 6 meters in any direction. The chosen location must also be within 20 meters of you.
2. Reduce the size of the flame by 1 size category. Flames smaller than tiny will extinguish.
3. Snuff the flames out completely.
4. Increase the size of the flames by 1 size category. This cannot make a flame larger than “Huge”.
Level Four
You have grasped comprehension of the truly destructive powers of fire, and can bend it to your will. Now go and cleanse the world with purifying flames.
Attack Form: Create a giant ball of fire, and throw it to cause an explosion of flames. Choose a space you can see within 16 meters as the target for this attack. The fire ball will impact the target, and explode. All potential targets within 4 meters of the target space will be pushed backwards 4 meters, and suffer 2d10 fire damage per 50 points you have in your Magic stat, up to 20d10. A successful Evasion Feature check will reduce this damage by 1/2. If an entity fails this Evasion Feature check, they will also become Prone.
Defense: Your body emanates an intense heat, increasing the temperature around you by 10˚ Celsius. Any entity that touches you or attacks you with a melee attack, must make a burn resistance check or become burned. If they are already burned, they will instead suffer 4d10 critical fire damage. This damage is not increased by the effects of being burned. This effect will remain for as long as you maintain concentration.
Utility: Flames coarse harmlessly through your body, allowing you to move like this element for the next 10 minutes. During this time you do not invoke opportunity attacks when you move. You can effortlessly move through spaces that are occupied by other entities. Whenever you do, that entity will become in fire. You are immune to fire damage, and given a levitation Movement of 6 meters.
Level Five
You are truly one with your element. Can you feel it moving through and around you? You are now able to evoke this power, and become Fire itself!
Pure Fire: Your flames cover and flow through you, transforming your body into a fire elemental. Such power can only be maintained for 1 minute. During this time, the following applies;
You are immune to non-magical damage
Choose any 1 “Attack Form” from a previous level as your basic attack. The chosen Attack Form will consume 1 less Focus Point to use.
Choose any 1 “Defense Form” from a previous level to be active on you for this duration. Concentration is not required to maintain the chosen Defense Form.
During your Perform Phase, you are able to use other Fire Arts without losing this form.
You take 3x Water damage.
You are immune to Fire damage, and cannot be burned.
You have a levitation Movement of 8 meters, and are able to move through and share occupied spaces. You cannot move through solid surfaces. An entity sharing a space with you at the start of their turn will become “on fire”.
